Dr. Bahadır Baykal completed his primary and secondary education in Elazığ and Ankara and graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1994. He was entitled to enter the Ministry of Health Göztepe Training and Research Hospital after successfully completing the Medical Specialization Exam and completed his specialty training at the Otorhinolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery Clinic in 1999. Dr. Baykal, who was particularly interested in functional cosmetic rhinoplasty during the post-specialization training process, carried out studies on endoscopic sinus surgery and snoring – sleep apnea surgery. He had the opportunity to work with people, who were well-known in the field of cosmetic surgery for nose, ear, and face, about rhinoplasty and correction (revision or secondary rhinoplasty) in reputable universities and centers abroad.
He participated in a course on ‘cholesteatoma and middle ear surgery’ which was held in Cannes, France in 2000, and received training on the surgery of middle ear diseases.
He received functional rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty training from Prof. Dr. Pedro Claros, President of the European Academy of Aesthetic Facial Surgery in Clinica Claros Barcelona (Spain) in 2001. Again in the same year, he received rhinoplasty and facial cosmetic surgery training from Prof. Dr. Fernando Pedrosa (Colombia), who is considered one of the best in the world.
In 2006, he had the opportunity to work on Functional & Radical Endoscopic Sinus Surgery at Institut Georges Portmann in Bordeaux (France), one of the most reputable and oldest universities in the world, with Prof. Dr. Stoll and Prof. Dr. Boudard and carried out a cadaveric study and took the advanced endoscopic sinus surgery training.
In 2007, he received cadaveric training in the field of aesthetic nose surgery from Gilbert N. Trenite, R.Siegert, T. Wang and K. Ingels along with facial lifting, otoplasty, jaw tip correction and eyelid aesthetics at UMC & St Radboud (Netherlands). He worked with P.J.F.M. Lohuis on reconstructive surgery of neck – facial skin cancer.
In 2008, he received training on sinusitis surgery with balloon (Balloon Sinoplasty), Computer Assisted Navigation, and repair of Cerebrospinal fistulas in Endoscopic Sinusitis operations in New York University School of Medicine (USA).
In 2008, he received cadaveric training on endoscopic excision of intranasal tumoral formations in the Montefiore-Einstein Cancer Center in New York City.
In 2009, he participated in the “International Milan Masterclass”, an important rhinoplasty symposium held in Milan, Italy.
In 2009, he received cadaveric training on rhinoplasty, facial cosmetic surgery, otoplasty with bonds, and chin tip aesthetics at Ludwig-Maximilians University Grobhadern Medical Center in Munich, Germany.
He attended Facial Reanimation and Facial Rejuvenation training at the Facial Plastic Surgery 2009 meeting and received a certificate.
In 2013, he attended the “International Milan Masterclass”, the symposium on cosmetic rhinoplasty and facial cosmetic surgery in Milan, Italy.
During his professional life, Dr. Bahadır Baykal, who has worked in International Hospital Istanbul, Göztepe Training and Research Hospital, Tekirdağ Çerkezköy State Hospital and Bakırköy Dr. Sadi Konuk Training and Research Hospital and in his own private clinic, has also been a member of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Society, Turkish Ear Nose Throat Foundation, Turkish Rhinology Association and Turkish Facial Plastic Surgery Society.
Being a member of the European Rhinologic Society and the Balkan Society of ORL-Head and Neck Surgery, Dr. Baykal was elected a Fellow of the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery in 2006 with a personal reference of Prof. Dr. Pedro Claros.
He is among the first practitioners of non-bleeding & painless tonsillectomy (Thermal welding) and endoscopic tear canal opening in Turkey. The number of cases of Dr. Bahadır Baykal particularly in the functional rhinoplasty and corrective rhinoplasty is above Turkish and world standards. Dr. Baykal, who continues to provide services to many patients both at home and abroad on rhinoplasty, jaw aesthetics, sleep apnea, and snoring surgery, endoscopic sinusitis surgeries and otoplasty which he has been particularly interested in recent years, has adopted a medical understanding of Hippocratic oath.
